Today you’re told, 'Don’t do this' and 'You can’t say that.'
It seems everywhere you step is the wrong direction.
What if there were higher philosophy to guide you?
In the middle ages, a Knight was expected to have the strength and skills to face combat and expected to temper this with strict rules of etiquette and conduct.
The Knight’s Code introduced the concept of Chivalrous conduct - bravery, courtesy, honesty, valour, loyalty and gallantry toward women.
It was a moral system which went beyond rules.
The SHAIR.care Code is a higher philosophy that we hold ourselves to.
The SHAIR.care Code
To like yourself and separate behaviours from the person.
To laugh at yourself and not take offence at the opinions of others.
Exercise self-control erring on caution where strength differential exist.
Use your strength to protect the equal rights, dignity and welfare of all.
Lift up the weak and defenceless with succour given to those in need.
Violence is only permitted:
- on the battlefield1 with willing opponents to the extent the rules allow2; or
- to the minimum extent required in self-defence.
Refrain from the wanton giving of offence.
Eschew unfairness, meanness and deceit.
Be honest with others and yourself.
Finish what you start and consider carefully what you start.
Can allow vulnerability and emotion to show.
Hold others accountable to the Code.
