Make Your Life Your Legacy with Sara Oblak Speicher
Born in Škofja Loka Slovenia, Sara hailed from a lineage of strong women who lived ahead of their times and a descendant of WWII resistance fighters. She’s the daughter of laborers-turned-business owners.
Basketball became a refuge from being mercilessly bullied and a distraction from the Balkan War (1990). At the age of 12, she began traveling around Europe to compete at basketball tournaments. At age 14 Sara began playing for the jersey of Slovenia Women's National Basketball team. At 16, she was the youngest player on the senior team and at 18 served as a team captain at the U-18 European Championship.
She traveled to the USA, met her soulmate and later husband Tyler - a man she was not supposed to meet and made New York her new home.
In 2011 she was pregnant, lost her job and decided to start own business. She found it surprisingly easy to juggle caring for a newborn, running the household, and building up what would soon become a premium online business management and consulting agency with a team of fellow moms supporting clients worldwide.
Then darkness, after her second child - Post-partum depression, burnout and incredible homesickness and grief after losing two grandparents.
Through the journey that followed, she looked critically at everything: beliefs, stories, attitude, habits, conversations, expectations, business, marriage, family, herself. She felt she no longer belonged in the USA and moved back to Slovenia.
After 4-month Slovenian Adventure, she experienced a dark night of the soul once again and simply wanted to walk away from it all.
Returning to the USA in 2020 she made Hudson Valley home with her girls, re-connected with Tyler and opened a gate to a whole next level of reclaiming her vision, knowing, voice and power.
In May, she launched a long-desired Make Your Life Your legacy Podcast, an unscripted soulstreaming experiment aiming to inspire and empower the audience to follow their heart.
In September, I became a US citizen.
In December, I held the first copy of my own book ‘It Is Not That Simple’ - a tale of 6 generations, 3 wars, and one woman's cross-continental quest to reclaim her Primal Power.
Had a wake up in 2022 when diagnosed with two autoimmune disorders and re-evaluated life once again.
She has now distilled all the success, challenges and overcoming obstacles to helping others step up and commit to themselves in much bigger ways.
